ATTENTION Wordpress users!!!
13 01 2006Wordpress uses Ping-O-Matic to ping all the critical blog services, to notify them of updates to your blog….IT’S DOWN!
Technorati is helping them out by donating equiptment, but in the meantime, you should impliment some changes.
1.
Technorati is by far the service you want to make sure is ping’d. Details instructions with pics here, or simply add this line into a new line under your Options > Writing > Update Services: http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
2.
Use Feedburner to mange your RSS feed. They have a service, which you must activate called PingShot. This pings Technorati, My Yahoo, PubSub, Newsgator, and up to 5 others of your choice.
3. You can manually ping these services using sites like this one from Technorati.
If your a blogger, and especially if you use Wordpress, I HIGHLY recommend you take these above steps, to make sure your readers are able to get their updates in a timely manor still.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me for help.
UPDATE! Direct from Matt M himself, “It’s back. :)” Ping-o-Matic is back online. The above tips are always good to have as a precaution. I’m a strong proponent of not having all your eggs in one basket.

[...] Update : Thanks to nick starr for reminding me you can also use the service pingshot with feedburner for your rss feed to let the services out there know you have updated your blog. [...]
I’m not too worried about my pings since nobody ever reads my blogs anyway. Woe is me.
Last year I put up an alternate to Ping-o-Matic: PINGQueue.

I love this site. Good work…
perfect site good information, very nice news and etc… tnx
Wordpress automatically pings all of Ping-o-Matic, and technorati is included there, so why ping it twice?
